Sorry for the unexpected delay in posting here.  We actually have returned from an amazing trip.   A great team working tirelessly with the efforts and supplies  multiplied in many ways.
Fund raising efforts are underway and we will keep busy for the mission in other ways.  Join us for a brat fry in Plymouth at the Piggly Wiggly on December 5th all day long.  Christmas concert by the Seibel family singers will bless your holiday season on December 19 either 1 or 6 pm in Fond du Lac at the PAC.  Trip planned in January and then on to the delicious Chocolate Event on Valentines day February 14th at St John Lutheran school in Plymouth.
Our heart does not stop beating to help others while we are not on a trip.
It continues to hear and listen for the needs all around us.
Haiti is a main emphasis, but our neighbors here are equally important.
Striving to make the world a better place through His love!

Getting Ready

It always seems like we are in the packing stage - preparing for the trips takes some time and effort to happen.  Well before leaving for the mission itself, correspondence to the missionaries and translators begins.
What are the current needs?  How can we help?  Where can you use our group, talents, efforts?
Items needed begin to be collected.  Packages and extra weights removed.  Suitcases lined up. Numbered. Tagged.  Weighed.
A big thank you to so many who come along side and donated just what is needed.  We never take lightly the efforts of your hearts and wallets.
Our suitcases, which become closets once we leave, are filled to the specified weights with just the things needed for the people we go to.

There are so many stories to share of something packed as perhaps an extra gift was "just the thing needed."

Numerous times the things we thought we would run out of became more than enough.

How does this all happen?  God.  To Him be the glory.
And for you who are His hands and feet.
Sharing hope.
Merci!

Worship Day!

Here we are to worship - on our way to church:

On the main road to our house as we walk to church:

Three kids have to bring a chair for church. If you don't have a chair, a tree will also work!

January 31st

Making a Papillion butterfly

A new game called "Can you find Isaiah?"

Fluoride and healthy teeth for hundreds of people.

Fruit bats are big and scary.

Glad to have Kohler wherever we GO!

 On the mountain singing.

A day to meet neighbors.

We always have singing before clinic.

On the way for street kids waiting for help.

Taking pictures is fun for all.

Waiting all alone for clinic.

Nicely organized and multiplied like loaves and fishes.

Dreams

Time is going too fast. In our dreams we could stay much longer.

Never ending hand slap game. I don't dare try it.

Feeding program getting started.

We can make a difference.

Lives in this shelter and happy to pose for a moment.

We call the one on left Michael Jordan.

Playing and Building

Some get to play soccer and build relationships while we're doing clinics. This is right outside our door.

Good Days

Have been good days. Tomorrow clinics. So much to do. People so patient. We are stretched. So glad we could fix some computers. Metson is so happy.

Arrived!

We arrived. All is well after running to catch the plane. Need to practice more athletic moves. Very nice weather. Warm welcome from the community. Sorted items and meeting old and new friends. Baggage never looked at. Many things to be very thankful for. I cannot access the email now for some reason. But this will suffice. Thanks so much for prayers that put us here and surround us. That will be our guide.

planning/preparing/praying

There has been a whole lot of the above going on here for the next trip.
Please do pray along with us as we are close to the time of being on the island of Hispaniola with a team of eleven.
Much has gone into the efforts here and many are waiting eagerly for us there.
Pray for health and safety of the team. Pray for unity for the group.
Pray for the efforts we make to be pleasing to God and a blessing to the people.
There are so many things that we need to be sensitive to and to see His direction in.  Please pray for all the unspoken requests as He prompts you.
Updates will be posted as often as possible to this site.

Real Life

Being here makes me miss the real life in Haiti.  Only the very elite will pass through the gates here. Our little beat up truck is quite out of place in the parking lot.

So this lovely view under the palm tree I share with you my friends. Wish you could feel the sand under your feet and the waves lap over you so warm and gentle today.

Over night life changes as we head back home. Embrace us as we will have many moments of reverse culture shock. Thanks again for standing in the gap.

Bittersweet

It becomes bittersweet the morning of the last day. Our friendly Haitian rooster reminded us all night long. Notice how proudly onto our wall he crows. Right next to the breadfruit tree with a banana tree in background.

Finished clinics and packed supplies.  List made for refill items.  So many sick people. Sadly we cannot see all.  Pray the medications do more than we can imagine. That the community of McDonald will be blessed.

Today is a special day.  Taking team and interpreters to beach.  Real food and ocean time.  Yes.  Granola bars and summer sausage are not on menus for this day.

Thanks for being part of the team with us. Wish you could join our beach day.

A room with a view

It seems so peaceful this morning after a day of seeing so much pain and poverty. A new concept for P&P.
The man whose legs had such weeping wounds, skin decay and toes hardly recognizable sat during wound debridement with such joy as he was finally getting the help he probably thought he never ever would.
As the smell of the process lingered throughout the day and into the night, it was a constant reminder to pray that The Lord would heal this man because the limited resources and my inept ability certainly would do very little.  Please pray for The Lord to heal this man's legs.

Busy, Priceless, Amazing

Had a chance to catch up more. Clinic days are very busy. Great renewing old friendships and helping the pastors with their communities. Making new fiends and seeing the team interacting and loving on all age groups. The smiles are totally priceless.

Simple things are the most fun. Balloons and coloring and little cars and gifts. Amazing supplies that have many days to hold out yet. Fun singing together and praising.

Our time is half over and that saddens me. Will hope to have someone else update later.

Thanks for caring. Team knows and feels your prayers.

Clinic days - Happy smiles and no crying

First day of travel to Port-au-Prince.  Will be spending tonight here.

People are so grateful - they claim that miracles happen anytime. We trust that continues to happen.

We have a big game of spoons lined up for the evening and everyone is pretty tired.

Very early as we can tomorrow.

Island Nights

You never are lonely on an island in the middle of the night when you have internet on your phone. What an awesome thing.

Leaving at six am for clinics in Port au Prince. Hard to choose what we need most for this time away from the home base. We trust Someone guided well all pieces. No electricity. No running water. Many great investments.  Pray for safety and endurance for all.

Sunday Evening

Heading to night time church. Great day with kids in village and feeding a a small group of elderly.

Thanks to St. Jo's transcription dept for extra items for heavy clinic days.  We are happy to serve with you for His glory.

Challise and all others. We are most grateful.  Lori and team Haiti  (aka Carol Ashley and Lisa)

Day 1 - June 28, 2014

Unbelievable how warm it is on our first day.  Got the supplies sorted and ready to do clinics.

Unfortunately we did not figure in this part of the world of stopping for a soccer match. We spend most of the day playing with children coloring and making crafts. Was fun.

Have a busy schedule ahead so excited that my phone is working here.  Yeah.

Everyone is resting after the long journey.  The new itinerary was really great.
